This kid is just too much. I have to write these down before I forget them.
1. I'm getting ready for a routine doctors appointment when Elijah asks "Mommy, do you need to go to the doctor today because your brain isn't working?" I had to giggle a bit before I responded with something along the lines of 'no, my brain isn't working because I spend it with small children all day.' He didn't pick up on my humor. :)
2. I was talking to Marty about how I think something Gavin is eating is bothering his stomach. Elijah enthusiastically interrupts to tell us "I know what it is, it is DIRT!". We both cracked up. And he may be right since nearly every day when we are playing outside I need to remind Gavin not to eat dirt and sand. What is it with kids that age? I remember Elijah doing the same thing!
3. And last but not least. In our recent attempt to curb a sassy attitude, at the beginning of each day Elijah has 5 gold coins. Each time he does something unkind or disobedient he loses a coin. Today, after losing all 5 coins in a matter of minutes, he walked to his room upset. He came back moments later and emphatically announced "Mommy, you just need to understand that the world is not perfect." I do not know where he gets these things. Does he even know what that means?!?
So....when he loses all his coins for the day, does that mean he gets to be sassy for the rest of the day? Is there a reward at the end of the day for retaining coins? Just curious how this is working?
ReplyDeleteWell, we JUST started it. The goal is that if he can retain the coins throughout the day for 5 days, then he can to go his favorite bounce house place. We'll see how it goes or if it needs to be revised. I think it is at least working to make him realize when he is being sassy/disobedient. Ahhhh.... parenting. It is HARD.
ReplyDelete"Mom you need to understand...."
ReplyDeleteThat kid cracks me up!
