A rock & a hard place

Happy Day after Father's Day!

We had a great day celebrating Marty and what a great dad he is to our two little boys.  :)  He really is a GREAT dad.   When I asked Elijah what Daddy would want most for Father's Day, he quickly responded with "banana cream pie".  I was really impressed that he is that in tune with what Daddy likes, so Elijah helped me make just that.

We started the morning off at church.  During the service we got a buzz on our little church pager indicating that we needed to go get one of the boys.  I first went to the nursery to check on Gavin, but he was happy as a clam.  Next stop, 4 year old room.  As I get closer the teacher is waiting in the hall saying "you must be Elijah's mom".  Yep.  What did he do?

Well, as Elijah explained during lunch, he found a little rock and he put it in his ear.    "Why?" Marty asks.  "Cuz I did" is the only response he gives.  Sweet.

Back up to Sunday school time and said rock is stuck.  And it hurts.  And he cannot hear.  Awesome.  A nice gal has a tweezers and asks if I want to try to get it out.  Uhm, no.  I don't want to.  Where is the nearest Urgent Care?  As we're chatting about it (and Elijah is calmly sitting in his chair just looking around), we have Elijah tilt his head to the side and I start tapping him on the other side of the head.  It made everyone laugh, but sure enough, it worked and out came the little rock.  Note to 4 1/2 year old - rocks do not go in ears.

Later in the day we had a chance to hike up the butte right in the middle of town.  Elijah did GREAT - so proud of our little hiker.  Gavin got to enjoy the hike in the jogging stroller and he also did great.... much less work for him though.  He just hung out and ate crackers most of the way.  :)

Resting on the hike up the trail.

Our little hiker.  He LOVES using his hiking poles.

Gavin was pretty upset in the stroller that he didn't have hiking poles.  Once we got the top he took care of that and walked around with them.
