Professional Movers

We are lucky enough that Marty's company has gotten professional movers for us. I think if we were moving everything in our house, that would be really handy. BUT we aren't moving everything in our house. We are moving "essential personal items" which I believe is defined as everything we cannot live without for a year. When you have two small kids, there is a lot you cannot live without (or at least would prefer to not live without - a highchair and a crib are both very handy at this phase.... as well as many of my essential kitchen items.... :-)

So, to prepare for the "packers" who are coming today, every room, closet and item in the house is labeled with a post it note saying what is going and what is staying. That was not a quick process.

Kitchen:
Rather than labeling every cupboard, the moving coordinator asked that I just take out everything that we want and put it on the table. This should get us through the year.

Again, not a quick process. Marty is still working full time. I have an AMAZING friend who has been helping out with the boys or this would not have all gotten done. And the packers should be here within an hour. I guess we are really going to move, huh?

  1. Wow, professional packers. Sounds so....professional. What a huge undertaking to figure out what goes and doesn't so kudos to you. What do you do when the professionals get there? Sit back on the sofa with a daiquiri?

  2. Basically. Elijah was at a friend's house, so I was basically just sitting there watching them pack (and keeping Gavin entertained). It was pretty weird. Big activity of the day tomorrow is when "they" show up to load everything (and our cars) onto moving trucks.
