Christmas Cards & Decorating!

Tis the season!  I am the type of person who LOVES to decorate the house, put up the tree, etc, etc all on the day after Thanksgiving.  That would be great.... except all of our Christmas decorations are on a moving truck somewhere in between Colorado and here.  We're going to get a live tree this year, but that too will have to wait until the truck arrives (I don't think we'd be able to transport a tree very easily in the Mazda 6 rental car.)

So, what I can do is start getting Christmas gifts together.  We use Shutterfly to make a lot of our holiday gifts.  Each year my sisters (and my sister-in-law) and I each upload our photos to the same account and then we combine them to make one calendar of all the grandkids (http://www.shutterfly.com/calendars).  It is pretty handy and then we can each pick which photos we like the best of our own kids!  AND we can include everyone's birthdays and anniversaries on the calendars - also pretty handy.  It is also pretty fun for the kids to get to go visit the grandparents and see a calendar with their picture on it.

Then there are the Christmas cards.  Since Marty and I got married we have always done a photo card.... they're also just fun!  I really like the designs that Shutterfly has (http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery ) and the prices are pretty great too.  We got some family photos taken by my good friend Jen (http://www.JubileeImages.com/) before we left CO, so we have a lot of good ones to choose from.  And I like that I don't have to choose one - I can pick lots and put them on one card like this:

But you'll have to wait to see ours!  Now to get on with the Christmas gift ideas before the moving truck arrives later this week.

Happy Holidays!

  1. So...since the truck isn't there, are you sleeping on the floors, camping style?

Are your cars in the moving truck too? I obviously don't know how this works.

  2. Sounds like you guys are doing good! I think I'm going to steal your idea and make calendars out of all the grandkids' pictures. I've made them before, but just of Ella.

  3. Sharon - I didn't know how it worked either until a couple weeks ago! There are 2 shipments - the cars and the 'household goods". The house we are living in here is somewhat furnished.... so we definitely have the basics (beds, couches, TV, silverware, etc) but we don't have much in the kitchen or any of our personal stuff.

Jen- glad you can steal the idea! AND - by writing this post I got 50 free Christmas cards from Shutterfly.... you guys should check it out! http://blog.shutterfly.com/5358/holiday2010-blog-submission-form/
